This is a 6-hour, evidence-based, workshop designed to assist doctoral physical therapy students gain a levels of competence and confidence in the area of vestibular rehabilitation. The course will include introductory content for vestibular dysfunction as it relates to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), including the evaluation component and subsequent rehabilitation following BPPV. Rehabilitation protocols to manage identifiable vestibular and balance system disorders will be addressed.
- Differentiate vestibular test abnormalities that identify patients who are “appropriate” candidates for therapy.
- Integrate diagnosis based strategies for designing and implementing therapy.
- Apply specific therapy protocols within individualized programs for patients.
- Initiate and implement a comprehensive vestibular rehabilitation program.
